News Reflection: Jonvic Remulla dropped the ball on Bato

Too bad. If there hadn't been that 'gentleman's agreement' with Alan Peter Cayetano.

It was a heartfelt mea culpa from Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla: He should have arrested the fugitive senator Bato dela Rosa when he had the chance. But, alas, there was Alan. Senator Alan Peter Cayetano stood in the way, Remulla said.

Doing it now would be too costly, he added. He wouldn’t want to risk the lives of 300 policemen over the arrest of one man, who’s wanted by the International Criminal Court for running a police operation that killed somewhere around 3,000 to 30,000 people — the drug war, remember?
