Democrats question if X is giving Polymarket preferential treatment

Elon Musk owns X; Donald Trump Jr. has invested in and advises Polymarket.

Senate Democrats are accusing Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, of giving prediction market Polymarket preferential treatment.

“Typically, X allows users to report an ad for a myriad of reasons; however, when attempting to report Polymarket’s ads through the standard X interface, users are denied the option to do so,” Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., Adam Schiff, D-Calif., Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., wrote in a letter shared first with Semafor. “This is not the case with other types of advertisements, including Kalshi.”

The letter, which includes screenshots, alleges that “this seemingly preferential treatment calls into question whether X is attempting to provide an undue competitive advantage to Polymarket and — by extension — the President and his family.”

Donald Trump Jr. has invested in and advises Polymarket. X and Polymarket did not respond to requests for comment.
